In 1967, a young South African doctor performed a medical miracle. Dr Christiaan Barnard performed the world’s first human-to-human heart transplant at Groote Schuur Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa. By doing so, he pushed the boundaries of science into the dawn of a new medical epoch that has brought life and hope to thousands of people around the world. In this program, Gary Kent follows in the footsteps of Dr. Barnard and examines the relevance of this momentous event for each of us today.
