For thousands of years the beauty and majesty of the night sky has mystified and enchanted people around the world. Indeed, Astronomy was one of the first sciences to develop. Space, with its mind-boggling distances, incomparable speeds and inconceivable power, is almost incomprehensible to us! Yet by understanding something of the immensity of it, we can better appreciate our place in the Universe and how it came to be.
