Henry Lawson has been described as Australia’s greatest bush poet and short story writer. Born in a tent on the goldfields of Grenfell, NSW, he grew up in the ‘wild west’, a haven for bushrangers whose exploits are now a rich part of the town’s history. Every June, Grenfell comes alive for a celebration of history, art and music, aptly named the Henry Lawson Festival as an indication of the esteem in which the man is held.
