Almost two thousand years ago, members of a mysterious religious sect hid a large number of sacred scrolls in desert caves near the Dead Sea, in modern day Israel. The chance discovery of these writings in 1947 by local Bedouin tribesmen sent shock waves through the world of Biblical scholarship, and has been hailed as one of the greatest archaeological finds of all time.
