Fraser Island, on Queensland’s ‘Sunshine Coast’, is the world’s largest sand island. Stretching over 120 kilometres, and with a maximum width of 22 kilometres, the heritage-listed island covers 1840 square kilometres. Named after Eliza Fraser, survivor of an 1836 shipwreck, its wide sandy beaches, verdant rainforest and pristine blue-green waters lure travellers to a little slice of heaven on Earth.
